Akala Garrett, a junior at Harding University in North Carolina representing Purpose Driven Elite, won the girls 100-meter hurdles in a wind-legal 13.44 seconds at Nike Outdoor Nationals at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Garrett, who finished second at last year's meet in 13.66, became the first female athlete since Kendell Williams of Kell High in Georgia in 2010 to win both the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles titles in the same year.
